aaaaThe Department of Resources Engineering was renamed in 1992 from the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Engineering. The former department was developed in 1974 from the Division of Mining and Geological Engineering in the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, which was the successor to the Department of Electrochemistry, founded in 1947. The Department offers a four-year program leading to a B.S. degree. Advanced study may then be pursued, if desired, to achieve an M.S. or Ph. D. degree.
